Remembered with honour at Beach Head War Cemetery, Anzio.

Pte Serrick was one of a group of young Canadians who were recruited into the Manchester Regiment by a Col R B Willis DSO - a retired officer in the Royal Canadian Regiment who had also served in 'The Manchesters'. This group of Canadian volunteers became known as the 'Halifax Hundred'.

Dannie was evacuated from Dunkirk with B Company, 2nd Battalion Manchester Regt in May 31, 1940. He volunteered for The Commandos and, after completing his training, joined No.5 Commando. He served in No.5 Cdo from Jan - Oct 1941. Dannie then joined the 8th Canadian Recce Regiment (14th Canadian Hussars) 1941-1942. Dannie was sadly KIA whilst serving as a Staff Sergeant in 2nd Company, 1st Regiment 1st Special Service Force [1st Special Service Force was an American-Canadian commando force]]]>
