"Once demobbed, Harry went back into the Oxfordshire County Constabulary. He was on traffic duties for about four years after which he went on an advanced driving course and became the county police driving instructor. He was a keen photographer and because of these skills he was asked to join the CID as a scenes of crime officer. He eventually retired around 1969. He told us of some of his wartime experiences and we know that he was devastated when Jimmy Whitaker was killed in action. Harry was by his side at the time. He was also very fond of Ron Griffiths and when he attended the 46RM reunion on the Isle of Wight in 1985 he visited Ron and his wife Win as well as marching through Shanklin with all of his ex marine comrades. Harry died in 2003 aged 83 and is buried at Cumnor church in Oxfordshire."]]>
