This photo courtesy of his sister Daphne Garey via James Day. Captain Cotton-Minchin had served with No.12 Commando, and had also been Chief Instructor at the CBTC at Achnacarry. He had taken up an attachment with 43 RM Commandos and was killed in action approx. 2 or 3 weeks later on the 15th March 1945 on a night patrol to ambush a German mine laying party just prior to Operation Roast at Lake Commachio. His body was never found and he is listed as one of the many "Dead with no known grave". He is also mentioned in the book Commando Subaltern at War by W.G.Jenkins DSO.
