Hi...3rd row second from left where you see only his head is
James “ Taffy “ Edwards who at some point in 1942 was a C.S.M along with another Welshman like himself who was also called “ Taffy “ with the surname Jones...when the “Yanks” a party of Rangers (the equivalent of the Commandos came on a temporary basis to be put through training at Achnacarry...there were 120 in total and my Grampa was in charge of 60 And Taffy Jones was in charge of the other 60 which makes me wonder if this is the Grandfather of the above David Jones?...I have a full page newspaper interview article that my Grampa done for the
Sunday Post dated March 30th 1958 headed...
AND NOT ONE MAN GAVE IN...
Where he tells the full story from when the Americans arrived until they departed...it’s quite an amazing story!

Unit query
Most, if not all, are not RM and several appear to be French? That coupled with the information in the CA newsletter on Scrivens being No 4 Commando, makes me question the unit designation of 4 SS Bde Signals. On checking the original post in the forum this is referred to as a troop in No 4 Commando. Title changed. Photo relocated.

Not 'pretty sure' now, that IS my dad (George Harris) - and I think that the man on the right (front row) is Tanky Bryne. I had the enormous pleasure of meeting Titch Garnett's daughter in Dieppe, 2014, and to realise that our dads were pals was amazing!

My grandfather, Joe Spicer, bottom row, second from the right. We attended the 70th anniversary commemoration at flushing with him on 1 Nov this year! He has a very similar picture to this one . A copy of it is in the fighting forth book.
