This is the village of Wriedel in Germany. Wriedel is located approximately 20 KMs south of Lüneburg. The Sign says Bremers Gasthof meaning Bremers Inn. It is located on the Hauptstrasse 34 in Wriedel. B-Squadron Inns of Courts concentrated here on April 17th 1945. The Inns of courts operated with 11th Armoured Division in 1945, as did 1st Commando Brigade.

This picture shows the Elbe crossing at Lauenburg, April 29th, 1945 with Buffaloe amphibious vehicles returning from the north bank. The picture is taken from the south bank of the Elbe, a the village of Hohnstorf. On the opposite Bank one can see the steep banks west of the village of Lauenburg. Above the first Buffaloe, on the other bank the local sports ground was located.

Comments noted
The original id in the first comments are indeed wrong as by the date stated July 1944 Capt. Grewcock was dead. The Combined Ops website also has a photo of Capt Grewcock and this is not him. However on the date suggested, is that not Lt Col Peter Young, 5th from the left. If so then this photo has to be before the 2nd October 1944 as on that date he was on way to Malta and then onward to operations in the Far East with 3rd Special Service Bde.

This photo was most probably taken in early 1945 in Holland or Germany.
The RM officer is not Capt. E.E.D. GREWCOCK: he was KIA on 12/6/1944 in Normandy. His Photo can be found in the IWM photographic library under N° H 39030.
This photo is also reproduced on p.51 of the book "Eric Harden VC" by Julia Harden
