His weapon looks like something I saw on HMS ‘Vanguard’ which was called a Lanchester looked like a posh Sten with fixed wooden butt.

This is not the Canal Zone (flat) so maybe this is Palestine/Israel.

I am guessing, but given the fence and watch tower this may be either in the Canal Zone or perhaps Palestine/Israel.

The Marine nearest camera is carrying the British Jungle Carbine which was a .303’ Lee Enfield Rifle with minor alteration.

My father was in this troop and was based at malta. His name was Harry Dewhurst. Does anyone remember him. I think its him in the top row number five.

I believe the person top row no 11 to be my father Wilfred William Gordon Greenwood PO/X 6874.
I have a photo of him as part of a athletics team photo which he told me was taken in Malta around this time. I have quite a few photos of his time in 40 commando. I know he served in Malaya, Singapore, Korea and Malta between the dates 1946 when he joined and about 1953 or '54.
I would love a better copy of this picture if possible?
My email is [email protected]
Thanks!

Hopefully this might provide a clue to where some of the other photographs were taken.

Row 3 No 7 Gerald Bunting (1929-2013)
I have a high resolution scan of this image.
I never knew where it was taken till seeing this picture. We only learned a little more of my father's time in the marines after my mothers death.
I have numerous other picture of him with "mates", probably some on here
